Cable or Rope

What is it?

Connects the chisel and weight to the drillers who lift it.
Obviously if it breaks then tools, time and money will be lost down the hole. Care should be taken to relplace the cable or rope as it becomes worn.

Used Ideas

  • 10mm diameter cable (metal rope) of around a 50m length is adequate for even the heaviest of weights.
  • If only light weights are used then a twisted 20mm nylon rope can be used, although this will wear very fast.
  • 16mm braided rope will last longer than twisted nylon rope
