Stronger Clamp Arm Hinge

What is it?


The clamp arm hinge used by MSABI is a modification of the basic hinge described by Practica, improvements have aimed to strenthen the hinge which was failing regularly. Flat angle iron bar was wrapped around the bush and welded on to strengthen. The tubular shaft originally used by MSABI was replaced by a solid shaft.

Good Things

  • Stronger
  • The additional metal especially the shaft add slightly to the cost although it greatly reduces the amount of maintenance needed and therefore is cheaper in total

Bad Things

  • Higher first cost
